Stay Extra Virtual 5K Fundraiser: May 15th - 17th

Jorge Almeida

Dear Friends and Family,

As some of you know, I will be running the 2020 Berlin Marathon in support of an organization that is very dear to me called Back on My Feet (BoMF). I have always believed that the power of running can change lives and this organization helps combat homelessness through the power of running. We typically gather for weekly runs in order to create community support as well as provide essential employment and housing resources for members. In light of the current environment, since we cannot gather during these times, I have committed to raising over $3,500 for this great cause and need YOUR help!

Run with me!
I’ll be hosting a Virtual 5K and I invite you to join me to help support this cause as well! Running has had a major impact on my life and I want to share the benefits of running with all of you especially in these times.

What is a Virtual Race?
While abiding by social distancing rules, a virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on a treadmill in any neighborhood, any city, any state, or any country (making sure to keep your distance, of course). Run at your own pace on your own time!
In return for supporting this cause, I have designed a medal that I will be delivering directly to you to thank you for participating (there may or may not be an avocado on it)!

When is the Race?
The race will officially be held on the weekend of: May 15-17, 2020

At your leisure, grab your running shoes, choose your route and take a short walk, jog or run (5 kilometers to be exact). Record your time and share a picture with the medal that I will send you to celebrate supporting a fantastic cause! I am so excited to see pictures of all my friends and family around the country helping such a great cause.

How do I sign up?
My request is that all participants consider donating at least $26.20 to Back on My Feet (the distance in miles that I will be running in Berlin) by either:
Option 1: Making a donation on this site of 26.20 per participant.
Option 2: Venmo your donation to me directly @Jorge-Almeida with “Virtual 5K” as the comment.

Then please email me at jorge.almeida.u@gmail.com with the following information:

Name(s) of Participant(s):
Mailing Address (for medal):

Please register for the Virtual 5K by May 1, 2020 (so that I can get you your medal in time!)

What if I can’t make it?
If you can’t join us, please consider making a donation of any amount to go towards this cause. It would mean a great deal to me!

To give you an idea of the impact your donation could have:
- $30 could provide a member with spring running gear
- $50 could provide a member with winter running gear
- $100 could provide a member the ability to celebrate with BoMF family during the year
- $250 could provide a member incentives to reach certain mileage milestones
- $500 could provide a member with education and job assistance
- $1,000 could provide a member with housing for a whole year

Thank you!
I very much appreciate any support you can provide to this cause. I hope this effort brings joy not only to those in need, but to my dearest friends and family that will be joining me!
