I'm running my FIRST MARATHON, and I'm doing it for BACK ON MY FEET
Hi friends, family, colleagues and kind people,
I'm asking you to support me as I prepare for two exciting and bold challenges. In late November, I will be running my first marathon, and to do it, I want to raise at least $750 for Back on My Feet.
We are all familiar with the feeling of being an outsider, being ignored, displaced or overlooked. It hurts. It breaks your spirit. It even threatens your sense of hope.
Back on My Feet seeks to revolutionize the way our society approaches homelessness.
BoMF's unique running-based model demonstrates that if you first restore confidence, strength and self-esteem, individuals are better equipped to tackle the road ahead and move toward jobs, homes and new lives. For all in need, they provide: practical training and employment resources for achieving independence; an environment that promotes accountability; and a community that offers compassion and hope. And through a generous community of volunteers, donors and partners, they seek to engage you in the profound experience of empowering individuals to achieve what once seemed impossible through the seemingly simple act of putting one foot in front of the other.
So far in 2016 Back on My Feet Philadelphia has served 109 members, helped 31 members gain employment, helped 16 members find housing, and supported 32 members in obtaining education and training.
Consider just how far your dollars go:
$10 – the cost of a new shirt for a member joining BoMF
$25 – the cost of a race entry for a member completing their first race
$50 – the cost of a monthly transpass to help a member commute to and from work
$100 – the cost of two new pairs of running shoes for new members
$250 – the cost of all gear and incentives for a new member
$500 – the cost of a security deposit for housing for a member
Thank you for taking these important steps to support and carry me on this meaningful and inspiring journey!
