Welcome to Johannah's Fund-Racing Page!
I joined Back on My Feet (BOMF) in September 2009 when Christopher’s Place became a team. For the next two years, I found myself circling up at 5:30am three days a week with a group of incredible people who were, somehow, just as excited as I was about running all over Baltimore in the dark.
I had discovered my people.
Together, we ran hundreds of miles, coordinated races, planned running routes, drank gallons of water, carried on multiple insightful 5am conversations, ate platefuls of spaghetti, danced our feet off, gave and received thousands of (sweaty) hugs, hit millions of high fives, went through dozens of shoes, championed the dizzy bat and the three legged race, went bowling in blizzards, ate hills for breakfast, cried until we laughed and laughed until our stomachs hurt.
While the members of our team were not always constant, we were always consistent. When we lost team members, we were there for each other. When team members needed extra support, we were there for each other.
BOMF became my family, and when I graduated from college and moved away, these people remained my family. I recently moved back to the east coast, and while I am not back in Baltimore, I am close enough to race there! I am so very excited to be running in the Baltimore Running Festival in October. I am even more excited to be running on the BOMF team.
Back on My Feet is an organization that combats homelessness through the power of running, community support and essential employment and housing resources. As a non-profit, BOMF raises money to support it’s efforts to promote self-sufficiency.
As a fund-racer, I hope to raise $1000 to help this organization continue to be amazing and make a difference in the lives of all who are a part of it.
